Inspiration

We were inspired to create this project due to the various limitations of the Dropbox Sign interface. The tools on the interface are very limited and do not allow version tracking, AI analysis and generation, collaborative editing or building a PDF from scratch. We were determined to create a solution to provide the users flexibility in their documents.

What it does

Smart Pact revolutionizes how organizations handle documents by introducing effortless PDF analysis and management, thereby eliminating the need for manual sorting. It leverages AI to swiftly and efficiently generate text content, enabling the crafting of new PDFs with ease and speed. Using DropBox templates users can integrate and import their docs easily to their Dropbox accounts and create / receive signature requests. With features like personalized editing, customizable templates and a user-friendly interface, Smart Pact ensures that documents, whether contracts, legal documents, or any text-based content, are analyzed, managed, and tracked efficiently.

How we built it

Smart Pact was built with a keen focus on AI-driven PDF management and Dropbox Sign integration. The platform was developed to not only create PDFs but also to analyze and manage them effectively. Utilizing AI technologies, the platform can swiftly generate text content, allowing users to craft new PDFs with ease and speed. The inclusion of a customizable templates further ensures that the document creation process is seamless and tailored to unique user needs. The platform also integrates robust workflow tools to ensure documents are well-organized and easily accessible.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into multiple challenges while building the product. The major issue was the inability to fetch templates using Dropbox Sign API due to it being out of thee scope of Oauth permissions. We also ran into financial problems in using OpenAI services for AI integrations and AWS EC2 and S3 usage charges. We initially planned to use Claude as our goto AI service, but due to it's unavailibility in India, we were unable to go with it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to provide a full-fledged editor which extends Dropbox Sign's existing features and templates, overcoming the various shortcomings of the Dropbox Sign interface. The power to create, edit and publish legal documents at the speed of thought is what we showcase in our product.

What we learned

The project served as a good opportunity to get our hands dirty with production level code. We got comfortable with following SDKs and extensive documentations. We gained important insights with Authentication and AI integrations.
