Will I forget something important? For years, I found myself double-checking my suitcase, weighing it at home, and still feeling nervous at the airport. I wished there was a way to plan and pack my stuff without all the hassle.
The Spark of an Idea One day, while preparing for yet another adventure, I realized I wasn’t alone—many travelers feel the same way. That’s when the idea for Smart Packer app was born: a tool to help travelers estimate their luggage weight, plan what to bring, and avoid missing essentials.
How We Built It I was completely new to coding, but determined to make this idea a reality. My journey began with learning the basics of Python, following online tutorials, and experimenting with simple scripts. It was slow and sometimes frustrating, but I kept going.Then, I discovered bolt.new and Supabase online. These platforms were game-changers! bolt.new made it easy to design workflows and connect to AI—no need to write complex code.Supabase gave me a powerful database and user authentication system, right out of the box. With these tools, I could focus on what mattered: making the app simple and helpful for travelers like me.
Challenges We Ran Into
Learning Python was tough. I often felt lost, but every small victory—like getting a script to run or fixing a bug—gave me confidence.
Designing the app’s logic was confusing at first. I didn’t know where to start, and sometimes felt overwhelmed by all the features I wanted to add.

What We Learned One of the biggest lessons I learned was the importance of planning.Creating a flowchart before coding is a must. Without it, I felt distracted and lost track of what I wanted to build.My flowchart included: user registration,estimating what to bring and identifying types of travelers (business, leisure, family, etc.) .This visual plan kept me focused and helped me build the app step by step.
What’s Next for Smart Packer App Is it possible to commercialize the app? That’s still a question, but I see it as a great start for building my personal brand.I’ll keep improving the app, adding features like AI-powered packing suggestions and real-time luggage tracking.I hope to inspire other beginners to turn their ideas into reality, no matter how small.
