Inspiration

We noticed that many farmers lose a large portion of their onion harvest due to poor storage conditions. This inspired us to create a smart and affordable solution to reduce losses and improve farmer income.

What it does

Our system monitors and controls temperature, humidity, and airflow inside the storage chamber. It uses AI and IoT to reduce spoilage, extend shelf life, and alert farmers when action is needed.

How we built it

We combined IoT sensors, AI models, ventilation systems, humidifiers, and a monitoring dashboard. The system collects real-time data and automatically maintains ideal storage conditions.

Hardware Components DHT11 Sensor for temperature and humidity monitoring. MQ-2 Gas Sensor for gas detection. DC Fans for automated ventilation. Mist Humidifier for humidity regulation. PTC Heater for temperature control. Air Ionizer for reducing microbial growth. KMnO₄ (Potassium Permanganate) Sachets for ethylene gas absorption. PVC Ventilation Pipes for uniform airflow distribution. Software and AI Components IoT-based data collection system. Real-time monitoring dashboard. SMS and mobile alert system. Decision Tree and Random Forest machine learning models. Predictive analysis for shelf-life estimation and spoilage detection.

Challenges we ran into
