Inspiration

We are living in times of coronavirus. In this new normal, one of the easiest, most impactful ways a bar/restaurant or hotel can promote a germ-free experience is with a QR Code Menu.

Why

According to a Good Morning America study, restaurant menus were found to be the single most contaminated item on a restaurant’s table. Smart Menu helps business owners create contactless menus in a fast, eco-friendly, and safe way.

How we built it

It is built on top of Laravel and Vue js frameworks. We chose Laravel because it helps to develop a prototype rapidly.

What it does

You build your menu on the Smart Menu portal and then an URL is associated with a scannable QR code. When someone scans it with their phone, the touchless menu pops up. There is no touching, only scanning. Optimized for web, smartphones, and tablets. No app to download. No hardware to install. It is always up-to-date!

What's next for Smart Menu

Smart Menu has many ways to be developed. Printing menus in many languages especially in tourist areas is common. The next phase of development will be implementing multiple languages for the menus to target also businesses working with tourism. Helping business owners change menu items and or descriptions and prices on the fly.
