Inspiration

I recently heard of a news where a farmer went to the market to sell his harvest and when we calculated his earning he found out that he lost some money by selling his harvest because of the high transportation charges, and middlemen. So, to solve these type of problems I have created a platform where a farmer can watch daily market price of the crops and can decide whether to sell his harvest in the market or directly to the trader through us.

What it does

Our platform Smart-Kisan helps farmer selling their crops online, by verifying the real time market rate. We also provide cheap but safe transportation of the harvest from farmer's land directly to the buyer/trader. We are also middlemen but not like others, from providing agricultural goods to storing the farmer's harvest into the cold storage, we help the farmer in every stage with very minimal cost.

How we built it

This platform is built using React, Express, MongoDb, TailwindCss

Challenges we ran into

Working with the governement API to get the real time data was the most challenging task. Because the things were not organized. I had to manually call the api several time just to get the information about the commodities.

The features of the platform:- I have implemented features like authentication, route protection (for both the frontend and the backend side), used cron-job to delete the otp after 5 minutes of creation, created a section where a farmer can sell their harvest by entering a minimum order quantity. Buyer can buy the product, there is a store page where farmer can purchase agricultural goods like fertilizers pesticides farming tools etc.. There is a section called Farmer Education where we will teach the farmer about the farming laws and how to save them from the exploitative middlemen and other education content. (For the demo purpose I have added some random videos from youtube). There is a page called lab test where a farmer can fill the form and can send the soil and crop for the Lab test to ensure the quality.
