Inspiration
Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation practices are major challenges in agriculture. Farmers often irrigate crops based on fixed schedules rather than actual field conditions, leading to unnecessary water consumption. This project was inspired by the idea of creating a simple digital solution that helps monitor irrigation conditions and supports better water management using a modern web interface and cloud technologies.
What it does
The Smart Irrigation System is a responsive web application that allows users to monitor important irrigation parameters such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, water tank level, and pump status. The dashboard provides real-time updates, historical records, irrigation recommendations, and water usage reports through an easy-to-use interface.
How we built it
One of the biggest challenges was designing a realistic irrigation dashboard that displays meaningful sensor values instead of completely random data. We also spent time organizing the user interface so that it remained simple while presenting multiple types of information in a clear manner.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a responsive Smart Irrigation web application with a clean and user-friendly interface. The project includes an interactive dashboard, irrigation monitoring, water usage visualization, and a cloud-ready architecture using AWS services. We also improved our skills in frontend development, cloud integration, GitHub version control, and deploying web applications on Vercel, creating a practical solution for efficient water management.
What we learned
Through this project, we gained practical experience in frontend web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with cloud concepts such as AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB. We also learned how to design responsive user interfaces, manage projects with GitHub, and deploy web applications using Vercel while understanding the importance of efficient water management in smart agriculture.
What's next for Smart Irrigation System
In the future, we plan to integrate real IoT sensors for live soil and environmental monitoring, implement automatic irrigation scheduling based on weather forecasts, and add user authentication with personalized dashboards. We also aim to enhance data analytics and mobile accessibility to make the system more practical and efficient for farmers.
