Our device helps at risk and existing patients who want to monitor their heart health by providing conveniences, such as increased mobility, ease of use, and remote monitoring, not available in current ECG/EKG devices. The current EKG system involves irritating electrodes pasted to the skin of the patient , connected to a bulky processing system. The sticky electrodes are a major concern for elderly patients with sensitive skin. Furthermore, each EKG measurement results in an expensive, tedious trip to the hospital which can be sometimes not the best option in case of emergencies. Our devices addresses both the above mentioned issues by embedding the dry electrodes on to a form-fitting vest which can be worn under the regular clothes with ease. Furthermore, not only is this EKG measurement system self monitoring but also cheap and can be used by everyone who wants to regularly monitor their heart health. The prototype consists of a custom hardware built to amplify the signals obtained from the electrodes. These signals are then fed into a Raspberry Pi to perform machine learning algorithms in order to extract useful data and process it as needed. Furthermore, the collected data is sent over cloud to the Thingspeak platform to observe the EKG in real time. Additionally, we have a custom button that can pressed by the patient in case of emergencies, which sends a message over the 'Twilio' API to anyone that the patient desires. Thus, record your EKG on the go with our device!
