Inspiration
Having experienced the detrimental effects of the coronavirus, we realised that working from home was becoming the new norm. This led to a sharp fall in commercial real estate utilisation. This decrease in price led us into creating a green solution that would help the lives of many of us.
What it does
Smart green transforms unused real estate into a fully functioning urban farm. We grow vegetables and fruits which would then be sold on to the nearby office workers or local supermarkets. We did this in mind to reduce the levels of food miles whilst promoting healthier eating.
How we built it
We built the Smart green website through the use of Figma. We initially used miro to create a mood board and wireframe. We then made the designs on Figma which we would then code into HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges that we ran into was trying to create some of the UX objects in HTML. It was very difficult to create these in such a short amount of time due to their high complexity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of designing a modern and friendly interface that is appealing to all ages and easy to understand. As well as this we are proud of our pitch deck since we believe that there is a concise amount of information that is able to explain what we do best.
What we learned
We learned that dividing our team into different tasks based on our skill level was a good idea since we were grateful to have a designer, programmer, entrepreneur and researcher onboard our team. We each planned out tasks to then combine our ideas at the end of each day.
What's next for Smart Green
The next stage for Smart Green is looking for future seed funding and invest from external sources. We foresee a huge increase in commercial building conversions as well as healthier eating. This is why we are committed to working on a greener future.
