Inspiration

The idea came from looking at how frustrating modern banking apps can be. When you have a straightforward request, they work fine. But the moment something unique or unexpected happens, the automated bots break down, and you're stuck waiting for a human manager. We wanted to build this app to fix exactly that—creating an intelligent assistant that handles unpredictable, complex financial issues without crashing.

What it does

Smart Financial Assistant App is an intelligent banking hub that acts as a bridge between the customer and complex backend banking operations. It takes customer requests, automatically figures out what they need, routes tasks to the right system, and handles complex, exception-heavy workflows (like disputing a transaction or modifying a complex request) smoothly. It keeps everything automated but intelligently stops and loops in human managers whenever a critical financial decision needs a human stamp.

How we built it

We wanted to combine the flexibility of modern AI with the strict control that a financial app actually needs. Here is how we put it together:

  • The Core Brains (UiPath Maestro Case): We chose Track 1 because banking complaints and requests are totally unpredictable. UiPath acts as the main manager, routing tasks between our system logic and human workflows.
  • The Code & AI Terminal: Since we had a tight timeline of just one week left for the deadline, we heavily used modern AI Terminals like Cursor to accelerate our backend API layer and microservices. We used prompts to generate our core structure, blending low-code UiPath infrastructure with high-code agentic engineering.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was keeping the AI on track. When you use AI terminals to speed up backend coding, it’s easy for the system logic to get messy or ignore strict financial business rules. We had to figure out how to let the AI be smart but keep it under strict control. We solved this by using UiPath Maestro as the ultimate governance layer—the AI handles the thinking, but UiPath enforces the strict execution paths and safety guardrails.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of building a working hybrid architecture in record time. Seeing an AI terminal generate backend logic that successfully hands off tasks to a UiPath Automation Cloud orchestration layer—while keeping a human in the loop for critical checkpoints—feels like building a real, enterprise-grade production workflow.

What we learned

This project completely changed how we think about software development. We realized that you don't need to spend weeks writing basic code by hand anymore; tools like Cursor can handle that seamlessly. The real skill today is orchestration—learning how to connect different AI tools, cloud platforms, and human checkpoints together to work as a reliable system.

What's next for Smart Financial Assistant App

Next, we want to scale this app by adding multi-currency support and deep financial analytics so it can proactively give smart budgeting advice to users. We also plan to integrate UiPath Test Cloud capabilities in our pipeline to build automated testing agents that can stress-test our AI workflows before they go live into production.
