Inspiration
The covid-19 pandemic has affected the financial stability of thousands across the world. In these unprecedented times, keeping on track of personal finances is more important than ever. Because of this, we have created a budgeting tool that allows users to keep track of their finances and we felt that it would useful to even us in the future.
What it does
This tool calculates a monthly budget for the user depending on an annual income they set. Using the website, they can view affordable housing and food options for their monthly budget.
How we built it
We used Java for the application and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the website.
Challenges we ran into
We were having trouble making the Java application look aesthetically pleasing, since Java swing does not have many aesthetic features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are beginners, so making a product that we feel is amazing is something we're proud of.
What we learned
We learned how to work in teams doing coding, and learned how the business aspect of tech is important when pitching a product.
What's next for Smart Financial
We would like to keep updating our website for affordable housing and food options and hopefully have many cities as part of a database. We would also like to improve our budgeting tool and make it more inclusive for other country's currency.
