Inspiration

Farmers here have many challenges which motivated us to set out on a sail to try and solve them and improve food production in the country as a whole.The challenges are: i. Farmers cant get cheap access to agricultural education contents ii. Farmers lack a platform where they can discuss with other farmers on problems facing them iii. Farmers lack a common platform where they can communicate with dealers
iv. Farmers waste a lot of time visiting saccos to apply for loans and get other services v. Its hard for farmers to find the products they want since they are not in one place vi. Customers are overcharged by some farmers since they cant easily see how much other farmers are taking for similar products. vii. Its hard for farmers to obtain accurate farm and crop health information in large farms. viii. A lot of water is wasted in case of water leakage when pipes are broken in a large farm ix. Farmers fail to identify crop diseases early enough hence incurring great losses x. Farmers cant get access to weather forecast data xi. Farmers don’t have a wallet they can keep their farm money and use it to buy farm inputs

What it does

Farmers education 1.List of diseases and their treatments <>Farmers can give comments,give ideas about the information learnt Chat 1.Farmers can meet virtually to discuss ideas and plan their course 2.Farmers can communicate with dealers and bargain for better deals 3.The application schedule meetings for the farmers and notifies them 4.The users communicate via video conferencing,text messages, voice notes and live audio conferencing 5.Connect farmers with farming advisers. Farm Sacco 1.The farming saccos registers on the application 2.The saccos can communicate with their members 3.Members can borrow loans from the saccos through the application Market centre 1.Dealers display here the items they sell and the prices 2.Farmers list here the products they sell and the prices 3.Customers can raise need for certain products through the application GPS and location services 1.This allows farmers to track drone investigations in the farm and to see local weather forecasts 2.Farmers can divide a land into sections and investigate each one separately then mark the portions which need extra attention. Integration with drones 1.Use thermal cameras on drones to detect water leakage. 2.Drones monitor crops to see where crops are not doing well and make necessary adjustments. Camera and machine vision 1.This allows farmers to recognise plant and animal diseases early,check nitrogen levels, sturdy leaf damage and identify weeds Push notifications 1.They remind farmers of activities to pay attention to,new data and remind about events planned in the calendar.

Weather forecast 1.The information is constantly refreshed every 30 minutes. Calendar 1.Help farmers schedule all their activities payments

1. Integrate mobile banking feature that enables fast and easy payments Analytics 1.This displays how many users the application has,how much time they spend in the application,what features they use most 2.The information help you change your application according to market needs

How we built it

The application is not yet built now but we hope to get investors who will help develop it.

Challenges we ran into

Some farmers were uncooperative and did not give us all the details we were asking for. Poor data collection methods

I am proud to be part of a larger team that wants to improve agricultural production in the slums and increase food production in the country

What we learned

We have learnt a lot about agriculture hence we are using the information learnt to design an app that best suits farmer needs

We hope to introduce USSD to reach a larger market share
