Details:- Idea is to make life easier for donors as well as social workers. Lets walk through the idea through an example of food donation. Every other day we are left with some unused food at our home which can easily serve one, two or even more people if used properly. (Quantity will be quite large in case of restaurants and parties). Although there are few NGO who provides the service of food collection, but mostly for large quantity of foods.
Well lets use technology to make things easy for everyone. Think of an application on which you do a single click and someone collects stuff from you.
1) You open the application. 2) We detect your location and show it on google maps. 3) You click on donate button and yeah you get marked on google maps along with other donors near to you. 4) Some one knocks on your door to collect the food. Feel good :)
Challenge : Biggest issue here will be collection, yeah everyone wants to donate instead wasting :), but number of NGO volunteers can't be matched up with that.
We solve above problem using technology :- Once you click on the donate button you can see near by donors on the maps. Now if you are free why not help in the good cause. Yeah we give you chance to be a local volunteer, where you can very easily select number of places you can cover and collect the food and keep it with you, so that NGO volunteer can directly collect it from you instead of knocking each door and make his way to final destination.
Technology -- We will be using open source project from apache, named Cordova. Cordova is a cross platform app building framework which works with the HTML5 / Java script.
