Smart Document Compliance Checker

Inspiration

When we interacted with out lawyer friends, one of the most time consuming workflow for them was to manually go through each document to make sure it was compliant enough to be proceeded with.

So we wanted to create a simple yet intuitive interface that will show all the compliance related status of a person's DocuSign docs so that appropriate actions can be taken proactively!

What it does

Smart Document Compliance Checker used Gemini API and RAG to create summary and relevant suggestions for making your DocuSign documents compliant across domains such as GDPR, HIPAA.

How we built it

We used DocuSign's eSignature and Navigator API to get context of a user's existing documents and then used Firebase functions to create an AI agentic workflow to get compliance insights as well as provide suggestions on improvements.

Challenges we ran into

1) Huge learning curve to understand compliance domain. 2) Integrating LLMs into Firebase functions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1) Fully functional app that leverages AI and RAG to give accurate compliance assessments. 2) Intuitive UI for users to check compliance.

What we learned

We learned a couple of things - 1) DocuSign developer ecosystem. 2) Strengthened native GCP development. 3) Using AI models in web applications.

What's next for Smart Document Compliance Checker

We want to give the users the ability to co-write compliant contracts with the help of AI.
