Inspiration

Colleges still depend on manual bus attendance and parents have no real-time visibility of where the bus is or whether their child boarded safely. We wanted a simple, low-cost system that solves safety, transparency, and tracking issues instantly.

What it does

Tracks college buses in real time.

Automatically marks attendance using NFC/Bluetooth.

Sends instant WhatsApp/SMS alerts for boarding and exiting.

Detects overspeeding and route deviations.

Provides SOS emergency alerts.

Stores data offline and syncs when network returns.

How we built it

Driver app for GPS, attendance, and SOS.

Backend with Node.js/Firebase for processing and notifications.

Google Maps APIs for live tracking.

WhatsApp/Fast2SMS for alerts.

Firestore/MongoDB for attendance and route logs.

Challenges we ran into

Making GPS stable inside moving vehicles.

Ensuring NFC/Bluetooth detection works reliably.

Handling offline-to-online syncing smoothly.

Keeping notifications fast with no delay.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

Accurate real-time tracking.

Fully automated attendance.

Instant and reliable parent alerts.

A low-cost, deployable solution suitable for real colleges.

What we learned

Real-time systems need careful optimization.

Offline support is essential for transport apps.

Notifications require strong fallback logic.

Designing for parents and drivers demands simplicity.
