Inspiration
I made SmartCloset AI because sometimes it is hard to decide what to wear. You can have a lot of clothes but still not know which ones look good together.
I thought it would be cool if AI could help choose an outfit for you.
What it does
SmartCloset AI helps users choose what to wear.
You can add your clothes like shirts, pants, shoes, and jackets. The app can also use things like weather and your preferences to suggest an outfit.
The goal is to make getting ready easier and faster.
How we built it
I built the website using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
For the backend, I used Python and Flask.
I also connected the project with the OpenAI API so AI can help recommend outfits.
I also worked with the Perfect Corp API for the virtual try-on part.
Challenges we ran into
One of the hardest parts was connecting the frontend with the backend.
I also had problems with API errors, timeouts, and API credits while testing the project.
Another challenge was making the website look clean and easy to use.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I was able to build a full website that actually connects the frontend, backend, and AI together.
I also learned how to work with APIs and how to fix errors when something did not work.
The biggest accomplishment for me was turning my idea into a real working project.
What we learned
I learned a lot while making this project.
I learned more about React, Python, Flask, APIs, JSON, and how frontend and backend work together.
I also learned that building a project takes a lot of testing and fixing small problems.
What's next for SmartCloset AI
In the future, I want SmartCloset AI to become even better.
I want to add better outfit recommendations, full virtual try-on, user accounts, saved wardrobes, and more personalized suggestions.
My main goal is to make SmartCloset AI feel like a personal AI stylist.
