Inspiration
It currently costs the US $1.5 billion per year to run street lights. We thought that there had to be a way to reduce that cost and save electricity
What it does
Smart City Lights is creating a smart street light that
How we built it
We used TRCT 5000 ir sensors to detect the presence of activity. Each sensor were addressable and when a sensor was triggered, it would communicate in MQTT to another micro controller and update associated
Challenges we ran into
We had a major block in progress when we had communication issues between our python code and arduino
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Everyone's commitment to completing the work
What we learned
Teamwork is key to success
What's next for Smart City Lights
Data analytics as well as optimizing the process of processing addresses.
