Inspiration

In recent times the number of vehicles are consistently rising and parking space is becoming a major issue in urban and semi urban cities so there is needs to design a parking system which will reduce manual work as well reduce the problem of cars parking on streets.

What it does

Automatic Car Parking enables the parking of vehicles-floor after floor and thus reducing the space used. In this idea we implemented the concept of Microcontroller Based car parking system. As we see in the modern world everything is going automation, here we have deployed an automatic microcontroller based system which is used to sense the presence & movement of cars and depending on availability of space it allows parking and same is displayed on LCD panel.
There is also RFID module that will provide security as users who have authority can swap the RFID cards and get entry otherwise not. It will also be used to settle the parking fee that has to be paid by the user. The project is designed for automatically parking a car into the desired parking spot in a multi-floor parking lot

How we built it

A central database system was used in this project to control three parking lot check-ins and check-outs. There are parking lots scattered throughout the city. Software has been used to control the hardware as well as hardware for the central management of the parking lots. For the necessary gear, RFID readers, labels, USB cables, toy cars, USB-connected obstacles, and laptop computers have been used. A database management system has been employed as necessary software to store and manage the vehicle tracking data. The parking lots are operated and the data is accessed using a visual programming language.A Phidget-branded board with an EM Manrin Protocol USB connector serves as the RFID reader (EM4 102). A read-only protocol called EM Manrin operates at a low frequency of 125 kHz

Challenges we ran into

There may be a fear of breakdown There is an uncertain building department review and approval process. It requires a maintenance contract with the supplier.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In this project, it is proven that by utilizing RFID readers and RFID labels with a centralized database system, all the parking-lots in a city could be operated in an economical and fast way

What we learned

This prototype will provide an automized operation and controlling ability for all of the parking-lots in a city by using standardized devices. At the end of each month, the total fees for each of the parking-lot member drivers will be calculated. Then these fees could be drawn from their bank accounts and transferred to the parking-lots' accounts automatically, issuing an invoice for each transaction
