Inspiration

There are many people in the world who are visually impaired. People who are facing this problem are in trouble to performing their daily life Routine. The biggest challenge for a blind person, especially the one with complete loss of vision, is to navigate around the places. These special people face Hurdles for making life quality life.

What it does

We have developed an android application that is linked with the portable smart device mounted on a white cane through a Bluetooth module and some other sensors and modules controlled by Arduino Nano. The device is tested with blind people and gives better results for reliability, user friendly, portability, less weight, and economical so that everyone can easily purchase, mount, and configure to walk more confidently and perform a necessary operation and obstacle detection in the range of 5 feet with varying buzzer frequency after every 12 inches to give batter understanding of distance to obstacle also the facility to operate mobile from the mounted device such as sending a message to caretakers, dialing a call, help message, SMS read and open Google maps to navigate by a single click on the mounted button on a white cane that wirelessly communicates through Bluetooth. More importantly, the blind person can start an Android application and connect with the device by just shaking the mobile horizontally, the application will be automatically started and connected. Furthermore, it generates a confirmation voice after successful connectivity with the device on the white cane.

How we built it

While considering our product the customer might come across multiple other products like smart shoes, smart gloves, etc. we build a unique solution for blind people, that they can't only afford but it is comfortable for them.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of a prototype, we faced a lot of challenges like where to buy the hardware, which components and sensors to buy, and how to make connections between hardware and mobile app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Blindness is an 'all or nothing' condition they may have some sight, which means they have low vision. They may have some residual vision, which could allow them to see light or color, or shapes. so we just gave him a vision through technology

What's next for Smart Cane

As this device shows that this is pure for Social change so our team and I'm are working for social change. So our best motto is to move towards betterment. As we will move towards betterment so we can fulfill the needs of visually impaired people related to this disability it’s not just about the business we are trying for the perfection of society.
