Inspiration
In many colleges, students and staff report problems such as broken fans, damaged benches, water leakage, electrical issues, and other campus facilities through verbal communication or different channels. This can cause delays, missed complaints, and a lack of transparency.
We were inspired to create a simple and centralized platform where campus issues can be reported, tracked, and resolved efficiently.
What it does
Smart Campus Complaint System provides a centralized platform for students and staff to submit campus-related complaints.
Users can report an issue with details such as the complaint category, location, description, and image. The complaint can then be tracked based on its status, such as Submitted, In Progress, and Resolved.
How we built it
We designed the system with a simple and user-friendly interface so that students and staff can easily submit complaints.
The frontend was developed to provide complaint registration, status tracking, and dashboard interfaces. A database is used to securely store complaint details and user information.
We also planned the system architecture to connect the frontend with the backend and database, allowing complaint information to be updated and displayed in real time.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was designing a complaint workflow that was simple for students while still providing useful management features for administrators.
We also faced challenges in connecting the frontend with the database, organizing complaint statuses, and designing a clear dashboard for monitoring complaints.
Another challenge was making the interface simple enough for users to report an issue quickly without unnecessary steps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed the concept of a centralized Smart Campus Complaint System that brings complaint reporting and tracking into one platform.
We are proud of creating a system that can improve transparency between students, staff, and campus administrators while reducing the chances of complaints being missed.
The project also helped us understand how frontend development, databases, backend integration, and user-focused design work together to solve a real-world problem.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how to convert a real-world campus problem into a practical software solution.
We gained experience in designing user interfaces, planning database structures, connecting frontend and backend components, and understanding how complaint management workflows can be automated.
Most importantly, we learned the importance of teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and building a solution based on actual user needs.
What's next for SMART CAMPUS COMPLAINT SYSTEM
In the future, we plan to improve the system by adding AI-powered complaint categorization, automatic department assignment, priority detection, notifications, and analytics.
We also plan to add features such as email/SMS notifications, image-based issue detection, complaint escalation, and a mobile-friendly application.
Our goal is to develop Smart Campus Complaint System into a complete digital platform that helps colleges manage campus issues faster, transparently, and efficiently.
