Emerging Track

Inspiration

Our inspiration for the project came from the want to help students and even adults that are struggling to continue their education while having to stay home as a result of the national pandemic. This idea came from struggles that we as students face while here at Georgia Tech

What it does

The calendar takes inputs for the type of assignment and the due date and creates a flexible schedule for the user to follow to complete studying and assignments on time.

How we built it

We created a frontend with ReactJS and bootstrap components. The backend consists of two flask api's. One controls the logic and one controls mySQL database that is held in Google-Cloud-Platform.

Challenges we ran into

We were not able to completely link both sides of our project (frontend and backend) due to time constraints. We had trouble calling our api's from the React database.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have one fully functional api, python methods, and a good-looking front end structure.

What we learned

As a team, we increased our knowledge on mySQL, Flask, python, React, javascript and Github

What's next for Smart Calendar

We would first like to spend more time to complete our project. When that is completed, we would like to add more feature based on research to create individually tailored studying plans for students based on past experience and make it more efficient for the end-user
