Inspiration

Many university students struggle to maintain the required attendance (usually 75%). Often, they realize too late that their attendance is too low. We wanted to create a smart tool that helps students predict their attendance and make better decisions about attending or skipping classes.

What it does

Smart Bunker is an AI-powered attendance planner. Students can upload their timetable image or enter it manually, add their current attendance, and the system predicts their future attendance. It also calculates how many classes they can safely miss and provides AI advice through a chatbot.

How we built it

We built Smart Bunker using React + TypeScript for the frontend and integrated Gemini API to generate AI advice and power the chatbot. The system also processes timetable images and uses logic-based calculations to predict attendance.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was extracting useful information from timetable images and converting it into structured data. Another challenge was building accurate attendance prediction logic and integrating AI responses effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a system that combines AI analysis with attendance prediction, includes timetable image upload, and provides an AI chatbot advisor to help students manage their classes.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate generative AI into real applications, design predictive logic, and build an interactive AI-powered web application.

What's next for Smart Bunker

In the future, we plan to add mobile support, better timetable recognition, university system integration, and smart attendance alerts.
