Smart Budgeting & Investment App for Students

Inspiration

Managing money as a student is tough—between tuition, rent, food, and unexpected expenses, it's easy to lose track of spending. Many budgeting tools exist, but they can feel overwhelming or aren't tailored to student lifestyles. We wanted to create an intuitive platform that not only tracks spending but also suggests personalized savings goals.

What We Learned

Throughout the hackathon, we deepened our understanding of:

FastAPI & Firebase for efficient backend development.
React.js for building a clean and responsive UI.
Financial Literacy—exploring budgeting techniques and risk-based investment strategies.

Challenges We Faced

Time Constraints: Building an MVP in two days required rapid iteration and prioritization.
Frontend-Backend Integration: Syncing API calls and handling authentication across different services led to some debugging roadblocks.
