SMART BHARAT

Inspiration

We were inspired by the difficulty many citizens face while finding and understanding government services, schemes, and public support systems. We wanted to build a simple AI-powered platform that makes these services easier, faster, and more accessible to everyone.

What it does

SMART BHARAT AI acts as an intelligent citizen companion. It helps users discover relevant government services, understand available schemes, get personalized guidance, and report public issues through a unified platform.

How we built it

We built SMART BHARAT using a modern web stack with TypeScript, Vite, React, Node.js, Firebase/Firestore, and Google Gemini AI. Gemini provides the AI capabilities, while Firebase supports cloud-based data management and application services.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in integrating the Gemini API with the application, designing an intuitive citizen-friendly interface, connecting Firebase services, managing user data securely, and ensuring that AI responses were useful and understandable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a working AI-powered platform that brings citizen assistance, government service discovery, and public issue reporting together in one place. We also successfully integrated Generative AI into a real-world social-impact solution.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate Generative AI APIs, Firebase, frontend technologies, and backend services into a complete application. We also learned the importance of user experience, secure data handling, teamwork, and solving real-world problems with technology.

What's next for SMART BHARAT

We plan to expand SMART BHARAT with multilingual and voice-based assistance, more government services, location-based issue reporting, improved AI recommendations, real-time complaint tracking, and greater accessibility for rural and less digitally experienced citizens.
