We have created an app that takes data from a health watch. Based on this data the app triggers a mechanism in the watch which provides a short term stress reliever through acupuncture.
Inspiration: We took inspiration from the stress that we and our peers feel while attending an academically rigorous school like McNair Academic High School where there are constant tests and other high-stress situations.
What it does: This takes data from sensors on the band and then determines if the user is in stress. If the algorithm determines the user is in stress, the algorithm will trigger a signal to the band which will engage in a massage on a specific part of the tendon on your arm which is shown to relieve stress.
How we built it: We built the basic code and then used HTML to build a simple website and interface to showcase this.
Challenges we ran into: We had some challenges with the UI of the website such as getting some of the buttons to work but we solved this by keeping the UI simple.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are proud of our end result and making a successful and working front-end and back-end for our website and app.
What we learned: We learned different medical terms and different ways that doctors can measure the amount of stress that a person is in. We also learned how to efficiently create slideshows to showcase our product.
What's next for Smart Band: We have developed the software behind the band and the next step would be to build the actual hardware and get a physical working product. We would also want to streamline the code and make it less buggy.
