Smart Alarm

Inspiration

We've all been late for class before, and sometimes worse. We wanted a better way to make sure we were actually awake, and out of bed before shutting an alarm off.

How we built it

Android app was built in Android Studio with a PHP server component written with CodeIgniter. Essentially alarms are registered with the server, which then provides verification to the app of when the steps are obtained. The number of steps are customisation by the user so it could be enough to walk to the bathroom, the kitchen, or even until you walk out to the car!

Challenges we ran into

Small team limited how much ground we were able to cover during the Hack weekend. As well dealing with background asynchronous tasks while keeping a responsible backend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Even though it ended up being more work than expected, I think we both pretty proud of coming out the other side with a functioning, robust app that is suitable for the Play store.
