Our project, Smart Accident Detection and Alert System using IoT, is designed to improve road safety by providing instant emergency notifications during vehicle accidents. The system is built using an ESP8266 microcontroller integrated with sensors such as the MPU6050 accelerometer/gyroscope and a GPS module. It continuously monitors vehicle movement, vibration, and tilt in real time.
When a sudden impact, abnormal orientation, or unusual force is detected, the system identifies it as a potential accident and automatically triggers an alert. The alert includes the live location of the vehicle and is sent through the internet to predefined contacts or emergency services. This reduces the response time in critical situations where victims may not be able to call for help themselves.
The project is cost-effective, compact, and suitable for real-world implementation in cars and two-wheelers. By combining IoT connectivity, sensors, and a live dashboard interface, it provides a practical and scalable solution for smarter and safer transportation.
