Inspiration
AI is changing how we work and how we learn. Skillfully leveraging AI is going to be a core skill for the next generation alongside reading, writing, and math. I thought this Hackathon was a great chance to work on retraining myself as a Software Developer while building something to help the next generation integrate AI into their learning path.
What it does
Small Tales is an interactive story book creator intended for teachers, parents, and kids to build and share their own stories.
How we built it
The app was build predominantly with Bolt.new with a few patches and debugging efforts in Cursor and Gemini CLI.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was really rethinking the approach to development to properly use and coordinate with the AI tools. There were a couple of tough to find hallucinations in some of the logic and some issues with rewrite churn reintroducing issues in one fix after resolving them in another.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm very happy with how much progress was made on an MVP in so little time. I can see a path to making this a desirable tool with a little more effort and it's a problem set that took us months when I was using Director for the same type of project.
What we learned
A lot of learning around prompting feature specifications better, approaching problems in a way that leverages AI.
What's next for Small Tales
Fix bugs, finish out generative animation and music integration, and then try to market it.
