Inspiration

Low-income individuals such as immigrants, refugees and homeless people are typically shut out of the traditional banking system and not provided basic financial services such as loans, savings plans, insurance, money transfers, etc.

This is where Small Finance comes to rescue. It is a not-for-profit fintech application which assists in giving low-income households small loans to enable them to raise their income levels and improve their living standards.

Utilizing this technology can improve the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable and underprivileged individuals, which helps eliminate inequality within and across communities.

What it does

Small Finance is a GenX application aiming to reduce inequality within and between countries through promoting financial inclusion, microloan options, and healthy finance habits This application provides borrowers and lenders a platform to bond over finance while eliminating the need for an external intermidatery. On Top of that it aims to provide the user with a expense management system providing a holistic user experience and easy to navigate UI. Built on top of scalable and secure technologies such as NextJS, ReactJS, StripeAPI , Small Finance is as good as it gets.

How we built it

Front-End:- React,SCSS Backend:- Next js, Mongo DB Deployed on Vercel Next-auth: User authentication Next-PWA: For enabling PWA access

Challenges we ran into

Had lots of issues with our deployment as it crashed and had to be rebuilt. Many team members didn't know about using react and had to learn it from the first time and there was a lot of error debugging on Win10 and mac!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Proud that we came up with a solution in a category that we weren't sure we were doing initially! It was tricky to coordinate at first because of the remoteness of hackathon.

What we learned

Learned a lot about react, node.js, and front end development. Some team members also worked on linking an API and a database to the project which was a good learning experience.

What's next for Nexum

Developing a PWA prototype, expanding to include businesses and non-profits.
