Inspiration

Its exam season right now, and my posture sucks. I realized I know my posture can be improved, I just wasn't aware of it in the moment until someone pointed it out. That's what prompted the whole idea. Through anecdotes from friends I identified that this is a common issue; people don't notice their bad posture until they're called out for it by others. The problem is that when you're alone there's nobody to give you that helpful nudge. Thats where slouchy comes in.

What it does

Slouchy is a macOS menu bar widget for students who spend hours hunched over laptops without realizing it. Every 45 minutes (or user-specified time) a grumpy stick figure asks you one question: are you slouching? Tap yes or no, done. A log tracks your habits over time and a streak-based shop lets you unlock accessories for Slouchy, making the habit feel rewarding. No extra app, no account, no notifications, its as non-intrusive as possible. Just the smallest possible nudge at exactly the right moment.

The prompt was to reimagine part of daily life. For most students, that's eight hours a day at a desk. Slouchy makes you more mindful of how you spend it.
