🌟 Inspiration Slipstream was inspired by my love for fast-paced parkour games like Mirror’s Edge and Dying Light, mixed with the clean, high-tech visuals of sci-fi classics like Portal. I wanted to create a game where the player feels like they're always moving forward — running, jumping, sliding, and climbing through a sleek, crumbling sci-fi facility. The idea of escaping danger using only movement really excited me.
What it does Slipstream is a 3D sci-fi parkour game where the player must navigate through a collapsing facility using only agility and momentum. The goal is to collect power cores and reach the final rocket to escape. No weapons, no combat — just pure movement. The player can run, jump, wall climb, and vault over obstacles while solving traversal challenges.
What it contains We built Slipstream using Unity and coded the mechanics in C#:
Designed levels on paper and whiteboard before building them
Scripted movement mechanics: jump and run
Added collectible objects and a goal system
Created simple sci-fi environments using Unity and lighting
Tested and iterated on each zone to improve pacing and flow
Challenges we ran into Making the movement feel responsive and smooth without bugs
Getting jump distances and level spacing just right
Occasional player clipping issues and fall detection bugs
Designing levels that are fun but not frustrating
Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully built a full playable level from start to finish
Created smooth parkour mechanics from scratch in C#
Designed a level that teaches players movement step by step
Achieved a cool sci-fi aesthetic using simple assets and lighting
Made a game that feels fast, fluid, and fun to play
What we learned Advanced C# scripting in Unity (movement, physics, triggers)
How to balance game mechanics and level design
Importance of iteration and player feedback
Designing for flow and momentum in a platformer
Building a cohesive theme and tone using sound and visuals
What's next for Slipstream Add a timer mode for speedruns
Expand with new levels featuring gravity puzzles and wall hazards
