Inspiration

Presentation slides are always messy to make and edit, create a simple consumer friendly interface which can learn their styles and create presentations in breeze, similar to cursor for code.

What it does

It has a chat interface using which people can edit and create slides in breeze with in minutes, can prompt the Agent which learns their styles overtime and creates their customized styles, has support to search online using tailvy search, and also can be easily extensible to use other mcp tools (like mongodb, postgres mcp) to create quick chart widgets

How we built it

It uses copilot-kit combined with custom widgets on the UI and uses pydantic paired with tailvy search for realtime information and configured to be easily extensible with more mcp servers. It uses widgets which can be resized dragged on the slide instead of static templates, this allows agent to learn create more dynamic slides which are customized to user instead of fixing on the static ones

Challenges we ran into

Agent was not aware of position of widgets on canvas, so it created overlapping widgets, which resulting in not good looking pages, exposed a screenshot tool to the agent via agui, and created a loop in which the independent agent gives feedback and current agent works until a good interface is achieved.

Constant errors from copilot kit troubled a lot, eventually figured a working solution by trial and error: Cannot send 'TEXT_MESSAGE_CONTENT' event: No active text message found with ID 'dd46c63e-0567-46c5-a8f3-58ac3e3d2dca'. Start a text message with 'TEXT_MESSAGE_START' first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the MVP, in 2 days from scratch including the persistent storage using supabase was pretty good, also taking a harder route of having individual widgets - free flowing blocks instead of fixed layouts which is relatively easy was a good achivement, this allows agent to insert pictures from online urls, position elements freely and it allows agent to learn users style instead of following a static template

What we learned

First time working on copilot kit, learned a lot about it, the ease of use it brings in. Apart from it learned a lot about react applications in general when debugging, apart from it learnt the evaluation loop from claude blog, which improved the slide creation in some cases

What's next for Slidor

  • Looking forward to pursue this take a domain slidor.ai, finetune the application, make it production ready, try to make to the "cursor" for slides and presentations

  • Add new features to generate slides in brandkit colors of the company by scraping their page and using their colors, add features to dynamically inject widgets generated from data using database mcps

  • Expose it as mcp service so people can plug it in with their own client and generate slides on fly

Built With

  • ag-ui
  • copilotkit
  • mcp
  • pydantic
  • supabase
  • tailvy-search
