Inspiration
I wanted to build a version of the popular sliding puzzle tile game 2048 and all of its related variations, with the chance to emulate the gameplay of the popular single-player puzzle game through a fun game experience for people from all ages and backgrounds. I wished to not only test out my skills as a game developer but also stimulate interest in similar puzzle games among potential users, providing endless entertainment for family and friends.
What it does
The game generates a simulated board that is populated by a growing series of number tiles. The actual gameplay is similar to that of 2048, as it involves sliding different numbered tiles across the board to combine them with a final end state tile of 2048 serving as the end goal. Players are encouraged to continue playing the game for as long as possible even after reaching this goal, making tiles with increasingly larger numbers until they have run out of space on the game board.
How we built it
Much of the game's infrastructure was built upon React Native, which served as the foundational framework. The rendering of the board and numbered tile pieces as well as other key assets was built using JavaScript as the development language.
