Inspiration
My mom and dad recently got COVID-vaccinated, and there was a huge holdup at the line forcing the crowds to huddle closer in unsafe conditions.
What it does
Allows vaccination booths to communicate with each other and request supplies efficiently and with no contact, and the security guards handling booth entry and designation should be able to view which booths are available for appointments just by looking at the app as well.
How we built it
I didn't have much time as I planned, sadly, so I made it on MIT App Inventor.
Challenges we ran into
Sadly, I was not able to actually dedicate much time to it this weekend because my parents suddenly said we were having a family weekend, and I couldn't do anything about it. So, a lot of the features, aesthetics, and layouts are pretty unpolished. But what can you do? That's Asian parents for you.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The basic layout and required buttons are there.
What we learned
It's really hard to make plans as a minor since you have absolutely no say.
What's next for SLIDE: Communication for Vaccine Centers
IOS App Development and integration with android one, and then actually making the app be able to connect to other booths in the vaccination center for real.
