Slice is solving a very big and important problem: we're changing the way that people interact with the stuff they buy ... AFTER they buy it. And we're doing this by tackling it at the source of where people get their electronic receipts: the email inbox.
We were inspired by the trend we observed with the increased popularity of the e-receipt format -- according to a study by Epsilon in 2012, 35% of retailers offer e-receipts as an alternative to paper. And while e-receipts are great for the environment and a necessity of online commerce, they create a different kind of pollution—inbox clutter. As avid shoppers ourselves, we wanted to build a product that would help cut through the email clutter—receipts, order confirmations, shipping notifications-- and simplify finding & dealing with stuff we had already bought.
So we built Slice to be the ultimate companion for the online shopper: our target user. Whether you shop online every day or once a year, Slice is an indispensable tool for mitigating the hassles that come with online shopping. When will my package be delivered? Did something I bought just go on sale? Is there a recall on something I bought? Slice automatically works with users' inboxes to organize everything they've bought online and like a smart personal assistant, alerts them whenever something important happens to a purchase such as a delivery, a price drop, or a recall on a product.
And about recalls specifically: we're uniquely positioned to alert consumers of potential hazards and risks from products they've already bought. Many parents do a lot of research on products before they buy something with little follow-up or due diligence after they've made the purchase. With Slice running in the background and constantly checking all the products parents have bought against the CPSC recall list, parents can, without lifting a finger, confidently use the products they've purchased knowing that Slice will alert them if there is an issue.
