Inspiration
We really wanted to make a game, and chose Javascript since most members of the team had experience with it. Since none of us had prior game developing experience, we went with a simple one: card matching.
What it does
The classic card-matching memory game, but sleep-themed. It keeps count of a score and notifies the player of matches, errors, and winning the game.
How we built it
We used html, css, and javascript.
Challenges we ran into
We originally wanted to give the cards an animated flip, as well as change the gameplay to a different sort of memory game. While we managed to figure out the animation, we couldn't merge it with the rest of the code without getting a lot of errors, and we also didn't have enough time for the different gameplay idea. We also had zero game developing experience, so we were learning as we went, which made things more difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made an entire game from scratch without any prior experience, and finally figured out the card flipping animation after many hours of research(even if we weren't able to put it in the final version). We also worked really well as a team.
What we learned
Javascript applications, game development, and a lot of patience.
What's next for Sleepy Memory Game
Incorporating the animations into the gameplay, adding sound effects, and even tweaking the gameplay to include rounds and challenges.
