Reaper Route

Inspiration

We wanted to create a way for people to get around Vancouver as safe as possible. The routes that google maps offers are not optimized for safety, they are optimized for speed, however these routes are usually sent to all google maps users which could potentially slow down users. These two things usually do not go hand in hand. Therefore if users were to take our route they travel safer with the potential of even going faster.

What it does

Takes in a start and end location, then gives users a route that is similar ETA but has much less recorded accidents.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge was that it was the first time any of us had used google maps API along with city of Vancouver API, getting these two services to work together in a timely manner was a frustrating from the back-end point of view.
