Inspiration
As high school students, we have often neglected our sleep to complete our work
We wanted to see the effect this has had on our physical and mental health
We hope that this program will help others in our position prioritize their physical and mental health, starting with their sleep
What it does
Takes in the user's age, sleep and wake up time
Using these values and the CDC's recommendations for sleeping hours, the program gives a recommendation on the user's sleeping habits
How we built it
We first created a method to determine the range of recommended sleep hours given the user's age
We then created methods to convert the input time to a number and find the numbers of hours slept
Using the number of hours slept and age, we evaluate the user's sleeping habits
We used repl.it and google colab to test our methods
Challenges we ran into
Converting string inputs to numbers to run calculations
Differentiating between AM and PM times
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to visualize the relationship between age and recommended sleep through a histogram
