We wanted to help college students get more sleep, and Sleep Itinerary would help students organize their schedule around the amount of sleep they want.
What it does
Sleep Itinerary lets users create an account to schedule their sleeping habits. To encourage users to prioritize their sleep, the app asks for the user's input on their sleeping goals and their desired times to go to bed and to wake up. The schedule is then booked for that period, and users can further add tasks that would revolve around the planned time slot meant for sleeping.
How we built it
We built this web application on Flask, HTML, CSS, and sqlite.
Challenges we ran into
Neither of us are well versed in web development, so building a website from scratch was a challenge we had to overcome. Also, while both of us learned Python in school, we had trouble learning how to use Jinja in our website. Other challenges included making the databases and attempting to connect those databases to Google Cloud.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our website that has multiple pages and that we were able to collect user data and implement it into the application.
What we learned
We learned how to make a website from scratch and how to use Jinja.
What's next for Sleep Itinerary
We plan to integrate APIs such as the Google Calendar API and store the databases in the cloud. We also plan to implement the user login feature.
