Inspiration

In a world obsessed with playlists, mood boards, and digital aesthetics, we wanted something more personalized. We didn’t just want to show a vibe — we wanted to build it, feel it, and live in it. Slayylist was born to turn chaotic thoughts, scattered Pinterest boards, and saved TikToks into a dynamic, AI-curated vibeboard. A space where your energy isn’t just represented — it’s slayed.

What it does

Slayylist is your AI-powered aesthetic engine. You input a vibe — a mood, a situation, a random word dump from your brain — and it returns a fully curated interactive board with:

🔤 Keywords & phrases that define the energy

🎵 Song recs (Spotify-integrated)

🎨 Color palette

📸 Image style & aesthetic grid

🧠 AI-generated "vibe quote" or mantra

📂 Downloadable moodboard file All powered by GPT + aesthetic logic. It’s like a Pinterest board, Spotify playlist, Tumblr core, and your FYP had a baby — and that baby was hot.

How we built it

We used React.js and Tailwind CSS for a sleek, scrollable UI that adapts to any screen. Framer Motion brought our animations to life — sliders, shimmer hovers, and smooth grid builds. We connected to OpenAI's GPT-4 API to interpret user input and generate curated keywords, captions, and aesthetic descriptions. We pulled images using Unsplash’s API, songs via the Spotify API, and colors using a custom color-matching algorithm. All vibeboards are stored with Firebase, so users can save and revisit their slays anytime.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a vibe engine that felt authentically aesthetic and not robotic was harder than expected. Tuning GPT to understand "vibe language" — like "dark feminine rage" or "dreamy chaos energy" — took lots of prompt engineering. Balancing performance with rich visuals was also tough. And getting the Spotify API to behave with niche vibes? A battle. But she came through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The UI slaps. The AI-generated vibeboards feel real and ridiculously personal. People tested it and said: “Wait… this feels like my inner Pinterest board.” We’re proud that Slayylist isn’t just pretty — it’s a tool for digital self-expression. From the animated transitions to the aesthetic quotes, it delivers a full vibe with every click.

What we learned

Aesthetics aren’t superficial — they’re psychological. People crave platforms that reflect who they are and who they’re trying to become. We learned how to blend AI and design to mirror that identity in real-time. Also… we now know way too much about Tumblr-era color theory. Worth it.

What's next for Slayylist

Chrome Extension for instant Slayylist generation from any site

Export-to-Pinterest/TikTok caption generator Eventually, Slayylist will become the go-to vibe companion for creators, digital girlies, chaotic thinkers, and anyone who just wants their brain to look hot on screen.
