Inspiration

We created Slang with Gang from an experience I had with friends, when playing a word game. I wanted to be able simplify the experience and share the fun with other people across the world. I also wanted to be able to play with my friends when they travel.

What it does

Slang With Gang is a word game where players compete to see who can create the highest scoring combinations of words. Players create words from tiles they have in their bag, and take turns until no tiles are left. At the end, the words created by each player are consecutively counted, the scored tallied and the winner is determined.

How we built it

Good-Ole fashion C++. Just kidding Lol, Slang with Gang was developed in dart using Flutter. The primary animations are rendered by Flutter's skia engine. The overall gameplay and flow was determined overtime, but was inspired by the word game I play with my friends.

Challenges we ran into

Multiplayer, and matching. During development, the biggest challenge I faced was connecting accounts for multiplayer matches, and syncing their game states, to avoid any discrepancy with moves, power-up e.t.c. Working through these challenges, has taught me new ways to approach these problems in their future, and ways We may be able to apply it in other avenues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest accomplishment we are proud of, is being able to play a game we designed and enjoy it with friends. Our proudest moments came with us noticing our small efforts amalgamate overtime, to form the final game and product we had pictured.

What we learned

We learned a lot more about resilience than we anticipated. To work through problems, write designs, fail and continue, takes a lot of resilience. The main thing at the end, is to never give up. Even if you don't meet your goal, it doesn't hurt to keep marching

What's next for Slang With Gang

We plan on adding a few new features, boards, challenges and ranks. The future is bright and a word full for Slang with Gang! I am extremely excited for the future, and to present what we have to offer!
