Inspiration
I am getting old and want to talk like the cool kids. As I experimented, I found it fun to use old-fashioned slang as well.
What it does
Enter a phrase and get slang from several different generations. For example,
Current Language: "It is imperative that you write me by end of day."
Let's turn that to slang...
Gen-Z:
You need to hit me up by the end of the day.
1337:
1T 15 1MP3R4T1V3 TH4T Y0U C0RR35P0ND W1TH M3 8Y 3ND 0F D4Y.
80's:
Like, fer sure, you totally need to get back to me by the end of the day. Gag me with a spoon if you don't.
60s Beach Boys:
Like, I totally need you to, like, write me back by tonight, daddy-o.
Jazz Musician from the 50s:
Dig it, daddy-o. Ya gotta hip me to the skinny by the time the sun goes down, ya feel me?
Beat Poet:
`Dig it, cat, you gotta hip this square by the time the sun goes down, ya dig?
1920's:
You gotta get back to me pronto, see?`
Mark Twain:
Well now, I reckon it's mighty important that you write me back before the sun goes down. It'd be right neighborly of you to send me a letter afore suppertime. I'd take it as a kindness if you'd see fit to put pen to paper and get them words a-flowin' my way before the rooster crows his last cock-a-doodle-doo of the day. It'd set my mind at ease something considerable if you was to drop me a line before the moon starts a-shinin'. So if you'd be so obliged, I'd be much beholden if you'd correspond with me by end of day.
1790's:
I hear thee, good sir. It behooves thee to write me back by nightfall.
Shakespeare:
Forsooth, prithee contact me ere the sun doth set.
Chaucer:
It bihooveth thee that thou communike with me er the day hath endid.
How I built it
It was very easy, that hardest part was imagining what kinds of slang I would like to see.
Challenges I ran into
Having one input box lead to 11 different generative responses is resource-intensive. It is fun, however.
Accomplishments I'm proud of
I am most proud of completing medical school and all the training required to become an addiction psychiatrist.
What I learned
I learned about the resources needed to run several different language models at once and how to use them efficiently. I made other PartyRock tools using just one or two forms of slang, which are more practical for regular use.
What's next for Slang From Shakespeare to Gen-Z
I will continue to use these tools and experiment. Maybe create some tools to answer with lines from Star Wars or Scarface :)
