Inspiration

I tend to try to incorporate things I'm interested in into what I like to make, whether it's something big like fixing the stigma around mental health or something little like the places I want to travel to! One thing I'm particularly interested in and have been for the past year and a half, is the K-pop group Stray Kids. I'm a pretty big STAY (Stray Kids fan) I haven't disliked any of their songs and I've listened to all of them (they're my most listened to artist as well), and they self-produce all their songs (from composing them to writing all the lyrics). I just find their discography so versatile and unique, and it made me think -- there's at least one song that everyone will enjoy if they're open minded enough. So after watching a bunch of Stray Kids discography videos, I decided, why not make a website sorting all 100+ of their songs into different categories? Maybe someone will find a new song they enjoy. It isn't much, I just want to share my love for all these songs in a website, so that's what I'm doing.

What it does

This is still very under construction, none of the pages are fully functional yet, because I'm planning to make this a pet project I develop and improve over the years, but the hope is that once it is functional, you can find songs to listen to by a. your bias in Stray Kids (if you have one) b. by genre (EDM, Ballad, Rock, R&B, etc) c. by mood (upbeat, introspective, nostalgic etc) d. by songs similar to their music videos e. by album and maybe by more methods in the future. Right now, you can open the by bias page, but you can't navigate any further, and you can open the album list and access each album individually, but the tracklists aren't implemented yet.

How I built it

The general appearance is made with HTML and CSS, the navigation is done with the bane of my existence , JavaScript, and I hope to learn to implement Spotify API to insert the songs into the website - I still have to learn how to do that, but that's a future goal of the project.

Challenges I ran into

Formatting is a big pain because I'm not fully versed in CSS, but this is great practice for me to get that done!!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am so proud of being able to make the website look very visually appealing. It kind of gives carrd vibes (carrd is a microsite maker, by the way), and everything about the album pages looks very nice to me and I'm glad I worked my way through that.

What I learned

Still under construction so I can't say much yet, but I'm improving a lot front-end wise!

What's next for SkzDisco

Implementation of Spotify API for all the songs once I finish formatting the site!
