Inspiration

So, the idea popped up 'cause planning trips can be a drag, right? Endless scrolling... We figured, why not make finding your next spot as easy and fun as swiping through your phone, but with your travel buddies?

What it does

Basically, you get to flick through cool destinations, say "yep" or "nope," and if you and your crew all swipe right on the same place, boom! It's a match. Then you can chat about it and get the ball rolling on your adventure.

How we built it

Built with a React frontend for UI, React Hooks for state, and envisioned a Node.js/Express backend with potential Skyscanner API integration and real-time chat.

Challenges we ran into

Getting that swipe thing to feel smooth on phones and computers was a bit of a headache. Also, making sure the "liked" places showed up right in the chat and keeping everything simple to use took some figuring out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're pretty chuffed about how the swiping and chatting just work together, like it's meant to be. And how it looks good on any screen. Plus, making it easy for everyone to jump in and plan together from the start feels like a win.

What we learned

Learned a ton about making cool stuff happen with React, especially making things you can swipe and keeping all the info straight. Also, how important it is to make things easy for people to use and actually enjoy.

What's next for Skyscanner - Swipe & Fly

Down the line, we're thinking about plugging into Skyscanner for real-time prices and way more destinations. Also, letting people save their groups, making the chat even better, giving you suggestions based on your swipes, and making the whole thing look even slicker.
