Inspiration We see the medical staff who run out of protective equipment, and also the general public who also feel the lack of face masks and respirators due to the high demand on them and their expensiveness. Such situations must not happen, that's why we thought it would be a good idea to reuse those masks safely, having disinfected them first

What it does It disinfects the protection equipment (masks, respirators including N95 and suits) with the vapour of hydrogen peroxide

How I built it Disinfection device consist of plexiglass disinfection chamber, air compressor, vacuum pump and drainage system.

Challenges I ran into Main challenge is to determine correct concentration of the hydrogen peroxide and appropriate period of time for masks disinfection process. Another challenge is to find the laboratory where we can test the real COVID-19 samples on whether they are eliminated by the substance or not. There is data on H2O2 effectiveness with other viruses, but no testing was done concerning the precise virus the world is struggling with.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of _this device is non toxic, working without high pressure or high temperature, which means it's safer in use than other devices. _

What's next for Skyrora PDD (Peroxide Disinfection Device) As soon as we assemble the prototype, we will make the laboratory tests on PDD effectiveness towards the COVID-19, if the results are satisfactory, our next step will be development and assembly of the full-scale device (a bigger and more powerful one), and as a final point we hope to supply PDDs to the hospitals and other establishments in need of disinfection equipment.
