Inspiration
I am a student and also school teacher and I discovered that most of my students find it hard to understand what is being taught because learning is not always delivered in real time and life science is not experienced due to poor educational system in Nigeria, I decided to utilize games and mixed reality videos to teach them and I found out they assimilated what is been taught better. I decided to create skylar where students all over the world can learn through games, virtual tours, and projects in mixed reality. In order to create better learning approaches we present to you skylar Which are an educational platform that incorporates real-time and interactive learning.
What it does
Skylar incorporates skill training simulation, students will interact with digital simulations, this ensures that students make a connections with what is being taught and real science is delivered. We of individual presentations and group workshops, Skylar incorporates student-focused learning through active student participation in researches and special tasks.
How we built it
We build skylar with Visual Studio with Xamarin using C# language. We utilized the stereokit template for cross-platform development.
Challenges we ran into
I am still a beginner in C# language for game development. This was the first time we interacted with mixed reality
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have built our prototype through the mixed reality hackathon.
What we learned
We’ve gained hands-on experience through the workshops and we have seen practical ways to apply mixed reality and stereokit in education.
What's next for Skylar
We are going to be testing Skylar with real users, we will go to different schools to see how students interact with Skylar and get parents/teachers' feedback, we will then proceed to build the main product by considering the feedback we’ve gotten.
