About the project

Skyhaven is a cozy mobile simulation game set in a world of floating islands.

The player starts with a small home on one of these islands and slowly builds a daily life around gathering resources, fishing, farming, crafting, decorating, and helping the local community. The tone is calm and accessible, but the world is not just peaceful. Above the islands, there is a huge upside-down city floating in the sky, and nobody fully understands what it is or what happened there.

That city is the main mystery of the game.

The idea behind Skyhaven is to connect relaxing daily gameplay with a stronger long-term reason to keep playing. Every activity has a purpose. When players collect materials, complete requests, improve their home, or contribute to community goals, they also help restore old gravity-based systems that can unlock short expeditions toward the sky city.

During these expeditions, players explore ancient areas, solve environmental puzzles, recover lost technology, and slowly discover the story of the civilization that once controlled gravity.

I wanted the game to feel comfortable and easy to return to, but also give players something meaningful to chase over time. The cozy simulation side gives players a place to live and personalize. The mystery gives them a reason to come back.

Core gameplay loop

The main loop is simple:

  1. Explore the island and collect resources.
  2. Use resources to craft, decorate, upgrade tools, and complete community requests.
  3. Contribute materials to shared restoration projects.
  4. Unlock short expeditions to the upside-down city.
  5. Solve gravity-based puzzles and discover new story fragments.
  6. Bring back rare materials, recipes, decorations, and artifacts.
  7. Use those rewards to improve the island and prepare for the next discovery.

This loop connects everyday activities with progression, so even short play sessions feel useful.

What makes it different

Skyhaven is not only about building a home or collecting items.

The player is helping a community understand its forgotten past. Small daily actions slowly open the path toward a much bigger mystery. The game combines the comfort of a life simulator with the curiosity of exploration and puzzle discovery.

The cozy part gives the player a reason to relax. The mystery gives the player a reason to return.

What I would build first

The first prototype would focus on a small but complete vertical slice:

  • one floating island;
  • one player home;
  • basic gathering and crafting;
  • a few NPC requests;
  • one community restoration goal;
  • one short expedition area;
  • one gravity-based puzzle;
  • a first story discovery connected to the upside-down city.

This would be enough to test the main loop before expanding the game with more islands, resources, seasonal events, collectibles, and deeper city exploration.
