Inspiration
Watching people hanging from cords and cleaning the windows of our panes wherever it might be in NTU, gave us the inspiration to come up with this idea as a way of protecting them.
What it does
It is an autonomous skyscraper window cleaning robot that runs on servo motors and sensors, and cleans the window panes automatically through up down right left motion.
How we built it
We used an ESP 8266 Wifi module coded inside the arduino IDE, with servo motors connected through a gear system and ultrasonic sensors with 3D Printed framework with 2 rolling clothes and 2 sponges for the cleaning mechanism to build this prototype.
Challenges we ran into
It was quite difficult to code the Arduino to find the correct boards and libraries, and it was also a hassle to prepare the 3D models with scale, render them and then 3D print them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud that we're able to achieve a somewhat of a cleaning effect with the mechanism and make it autonomous.
What we learned
We learnt skills about C++ programming, Arduino coding, Blender designing and rendering and 3D Printing
What's next for SkyBot
The normal batteries can be replaced by Flint paper batteries Upgrading the robots using suction system and make it functional for multi surfaces Use OpenCV and ESP-CAM modules to enhance the cleaning experience Integration of solar panel
