Inspiration
As an astronomer, weather conditions and haze level is of great concern in order to determine the uncertainty of the observed light from space.
What it does
This app is meant to display a real time map containing a heat map of possible extinction coefficients present in an area, dependent on the wave length of light you want to observe.
How I built it
I tried building an atmospheric model with GCP, with the help of the github mentor, and then apply present and past data from the model into a Runga Kutta method algorithm to build future forecasts of weather conditions.
Challenges I ran into
Setting up the GCP with the proper libraries to run WRF for accessing weather data was really difficult. Intel's optimization algorithm of icc was insanely difficult to pull off.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I've learned how to setup a workable machine instance on gcp, and I understand now how to apply my preferred simulation into the cloud.
What I learned
Never rely on old documentation from Intel
What's next for Sky Extinct
I want to expand the functionality of this app to eventually visualize housing market prices and the migration of homeless populations in large cities over significant periods of time to hopefully provide useful information of potential sections of a city that need medical attention.
