Inspiration
Ever since I was a teenager, my imagination was ignited by The Sims—a game that let me build, design, and shape entire lives from scratch. That passion for creativity and world-building eventually led me to Horizon Worlds, a platform where I could take my love of interactive design to the next level. With my background as a therapist and a deep belief in the power of play—especially for children—I saw an opportunity to create not just entertaining experiences, but safe, meaningful spaces for emotional expression and learning. Horizon became more than just a creative outlet; it became a way to merge my personal passions with my professional values
What it does
The experiences I create in Horizon Worlds are designed to be immersive, interactive, and emotionally resonant. From customizable neighborhoods inspired by The Sims to emotionally intelligent play zones. Each world encourages exploration, creativity, and connection. These are not just games—they're safe spaces that promote learning, communication, and personal growth.
How we built it
Building these experiences involved learning and applying a range of skills. I dove into scripting, 3D design, and world optimization. I collaborated with others, sought community feedback, and iterated constantly. Every element—from object placement to avatar interactions—was carefully crafted to enhance the user experience while keeping performance in mind.
Challenges we ran into
The journey wasn’t without its hurdles. I struggled with scripting anxiety, especially as a creative thinker stepping into a technical role. Time management was also a challenge, balancing design goals with learning curves and life responsibilities. Navigating performance issues and implementing user feedback pushed me to become more flexible and persistent.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. We built fully interactive, socially dynamic worlds from scratch, and turned childhood passions into tangible, functional realities. Seeing people engage with and enjoy the experiences we’ve created is incredibly rewarding and keeps us motivated to grow further.
What we learned
This process taught us more than just technical skills. We learned the importance of iteration, the power of community feedback, and how creative play can be a tool for emotional expression. We also discovered how valuable it is to step out of your comfort zone to learn new disciplines and adapt along the way.
What's next for SK Productions aka SKPro
Looking ahead, SKPro aims to expand its portfolio with even more engaging, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent experiences. We’re exploring collaborations, experimenting with advanced scripting, and considering ways to support play and learn activities and mental health education through immersive design. The future is wide open—and we're just getting started.
