Inspiration

Skincare can be confusing because users often don't know how to interpret their skin characteristics or build a simple routine. We wanted to create an easy AI-powered experience that turns skin analysis into practical, personalized skincare guidance.

What it does

SkinWise AI analyzes a user's skin photo using YouCam Skin AI and presents structured skin insights. It then generates personalized cosmetic skincare guidance, recommended product categories, and simple morning and evening routines.

How we built it

We built SkinWise AI with a React + Vite frontend and a FastAPI backend. YouCam Skin AI provides the skin analysis, while Groq-powered AI generates personalized guidance from the analysis results. The application also includes a SkinWise Shop for exploring relevant product categories and products.

Challenges we ran into

A key challenge was connecting asynchronous skin-analysis results with the AI guidance layer while keeping the user experience simple. We also had to ensure that raw analysis scores were not incorrectly interpreted as medical severity indicators.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a complete end-to-end working experience—from photo upload and AI skin analysis to personalized guidance, skincare routines, and product exploration. We also created a polished, responsive interface and successfully deployed the application.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate an external AI API into a real application, handle asynchronous API workflows, connect AI reasoning with structured data, and design a user-friendly AI-powered product experience.

What's next for SkinWise AI

We plan to expand the product catalog, improve personalization, add more skincare education, and explore additional AI-powered features while keeping the experience simple and user-friendly.# Inspiration
